Terms and Conditions

 

The yearly fee is currently £10

Membership of the library runs for one full year and covers unlimited hire of any slings for up to one month at a time. Upon return and after inspection a new sling can be hired. Should the sling be damaged or lost the membership will cease and a new membership will have to be in place before future slings can be hired. Any damage to the sling whilst in your possession will need to be paid for, we will need to look over the carrier together and determine what damage has been caused during the hire period and any cost this may incur. If it is found to be negligent use of the carrier you will be invoiced for the damage and membership cannot continue until the invoice has been paid or a suitable arrangement in place.

 

If you have not made contact with the library 1 month after hire and have not returned the sling the full retail cost of the carrier will be invoiced after exactly 1 month of original return date.  A late fee of £10 per overdue month will also be charged. If a booklet or dvd or any spare parts of the sling were provided when hired these should be returned complete and undamaged at the same time as returning the sling. We will pass your information onto collection agencies should an invoice not be paid or sling not returned after more than 2 months. 

 

Sling/Carrier washing instructions 

* Prepare the sling/carrier for the washing machine by clipping closed any buckles. 

* Place the item inside a pillow case and tie off the open end (so the carrier cannot come out in the machine) 

* Place in the washing machine on it's own 

* Wash with Ecover detergent ONLY (due to allergies with other detergents) – we will provide enough detergent with each sling/carrier hire. 

* Wash on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees, low spin speed DO NOT use fabric softener DO NOT tumble dry 

* Please dry by draping over a clothes horse (outside is ok) avoid using pegs as this can cause pulls and or thread shifting in wraps Iron on a cool setting. 

Do not deviate in any way from the above guidelines Please be aware that any damage caused during the washing process will be charged for. If you do not feel confident washing the library's sling/carrier please do not do so and contact an admin in order to arrange early return of the item so that we can do it ready for the next hirer If the carrier/sling is heavily soiled and following the above steps does not remove the stain please contact admin before trying anything else

The library staff can provide a demonstration of how to use any slings but we always recommend you follow the manufacturers instructions which can be found on their website or in the booklet provided when hiring. If you fail to follow the manufacturers instructions you will be liable for any damage or injury caused. Should you require any further assistance using the sling please contact a trained consultant, such as Caroline Matthews. We recommend if trying a new carry to practice with a doll or teddy until you are confident to try the carry with your child.

 

Slings can be dangerous when used incorrectly, always make sure you have knowledge of the T.I.C.K.S guidelines and ABC safety guide when using any sling. 

 

A new hire form will have to be completed each time a sling is borrowed. 

Please check the sling for damage each time you use the sling, if you notice it is damaged please do not use it and contact us on the number/email provided. Your baby's safety may be at risk if you use the sling in an unsafe condition.
